Bashkaran Kannan

Postdoc Baskaran Kannan is an associate at the University of Florida. He earned his B.S. in agriculture and his M.S. in plant breeding and genetics from Tail Nadu Agricultural University in India. He continued with this topic for his Ph.D. at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT). In 2003, he was awarded the Dr. S.R. Sree Rangaswamy and K. Rajagopalan award for the best thesis/dissertation in plant breeding and genetics.

Kannan is involved in field evaluation of transgenic sugarcane for improved photosynthesis and enhanced energy density.

The PETROSS project is funded by ARPA-E (Advanced Research Projects Agency—Energy) within the U.S. Department of Energy.
